Essay on education free essay sample
Instruction is the light of the life. Training demonstrates to one of the most significant components for the improvement of human progress. Training improves human status and leads everybody to appropriateness. it is a constant and deep rooted process. It qualities generally significant, valuable and changeless property of a person. Instruction gives labor, fortifies national solidarity and elevates open mindfulness. It welcomes positive and helpful change throughout everyday life. It makes our life extremely prosperous and significant. Everybody needs to be accomplished. Life can be effective by the assistance of fitting instruction. Taught individual can just judge what is right and what's up And takes the fitting and right choice yet uneducated individual neglects to do as such. Object of Education: Robert Maynard Hutchins portrays it as ââ¬Å"The object of training is to set up the youthful to teach themselves for the duration of their lives. â⬠We should give our childhood the best approach to instruct themselves. Edward Everett said that ââ¬Å"Education is a superior shield of freedom than a standing armed force. â⬠Importance of Education: We as a whole know the significance of training. It is the most significant part of any nationââ¬â¢s endurance today. Training assembles the countries; it decides the eventual fate of a country. ISLAM likewise enlightens us concerning Education and its significance. The genuine substance of Education as per ISLAM is ââ¬Å"to know ALLAHâ⬠however I think in our nation we really lost. Neither our schools nor our madrassaââ¬â¢s (Islamic Education Centers) are genuinely instructing our childhood in such manner. In schools, we are simply setting them up for ââ¬Å"Moneyâ⬠. We arenââ¬â¢t instructing them we are simply getting ready ââ¬Å"Money Machinesâ⬠. We are just expanding the weight of the books for our kids and simply selecting them in a presumed, enormous school for what, only for economic wellbeing On the other deliver our madrassas we are getting ready individuals who finds hard to change in the advanced society. In some cases it appears that they are from another planet. A madrassa understudy canââ¬â¢t contend even in our nation then the World is so distant from him. He finds hard to try and address a school kid. It is perfectly clear that Islamic Education is essential for Muslims however it is likewise a reality that without present day instruction nobody can contend in this world. There are numerous instances of Muslim Scholars who study the Holy Quraan as well as aced different subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Astronomy and some more, with the assistance of Holy Quraan. I think with the current instruction framework we are narrowing the path for our youngsters as opposed to broadening it. There is no uncertainty that our youngsters are extremely capable, both in schools and in madrassas, we simply need to give them legitimate approaches to prep, give them the space to become Quaid-E-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Allama Iqbal, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Alberoni, Abnalhasam, or Einstein, Newton, Thomas Edison. The instruction framework we are running with isn't working any longer. We need to figure out how to overcome this issue among school and madrassa. Foundation of Pakistanââ¬â¢s Educational System Numerous global appraisals could investigate that Pakistan is lingering behind numerous nations in accomplishing the Education for All objective (EFA). We were the signatory to the arrangement under Dakar Framework where it was chosen by all the creating nations that they will be attempting to accomplish the objective of EFI in the gathering held in Senegal in 2000. UNESCO rates in Pakistan are at a lower EFA improvement Index (EDI) in light of low; enrolment at grade school, grown-up proficiency, sexual orientation value and fairness, balances in instruction and nature of training. The grown-up education in Pakistan, regardless of purposeful endeavors, neglect to go past the fringe of 50 percent. The ladies education is significantly more disparaging as thirty three percent of the grown-up ladies can't peruse. The additionally grasping would be that we would not be getting the objective to accomplish the grown-up education by 2015. Progress towards the accomplishment of the objectives is extraordinarily moderate, while sexual orientation equality objective is in danger of not being accomplished by 2015. Besides, in excess of 6 million kids are out of school. Instructive System in Pakistan: Education framework in Pakistan is truly having a terrible arrangement right now. There is no uncertainty in tolerating the way that training stands the spine for the improvement of countries. Taking a gander at the historical backdrop of countries, we may securely arrive at the resolution that the propelled countries of the world could arrive at the apex of distinction and force taking help from training. The allotments for instruction are excessively pitiful, and regardless of distribution, the sum isn't spent for what it was intended for as the defilement is found in all the levels of training and furthermore due to a similar conveyance from the administration foundations that is much underneath the ideal and aimed levels. Private schooling in Pakistan is broad for poor people and the turnover of this quality training doesn't serve the nation the manner in which they should. Making arrangements for instruction doesn't go in coinciding with the necessities and actualize remains at any point overlooked, so by along these lines the framework is getting more ruined instead of thriving. Our colleges have neglected to deliver the organizers, designers, implementers, and leaders. Or maybe the turnover is a confuse with the ground real factors, the half upheld people we are delivering are of no utilization to us. The understudies we run over are degree searchers instead of the information. The expansion in number of schools and colleges doesn't imply that we are passing by the principles rather these are declining, a straightforward proof of which is that no Pakistani college could discover a space among the best 1000 colleges of the world. The financial situation is straightforwardly joined with the status of Education in the nation. The created world figured out how proportional up their training in accordance with the necessities and market prerequisites. Regardless of the ongoing accomplishments, much more is should have been done as the nation despite everything faces various difficulties which cause discouragement. We are under commitment to raise the instruction of our populace to the degree of our South Asian neighbors, to battle our own social and monetary needs to the good level. The very size of Pakistanââ¬â¢s training division in excess of 150,000 government funded instruction establishments serving more than 21 million understudies and a gigantic private area that serves another 12 million â⬠presents imposing difficulties. Instruction is seen as the least expensive and unmistakable guard component for a country on the social, political, and monetary fronts. In any case, the down trodden state of instruction in Pakistan bears a sufficient declaration of the way that it can't guard its own part. Over the range of 64 years, the country has been given the 23 approaches and activity designs however we were unable to begin the walk towards progress and are sitting tight for a hero who could remove the framework from unrest. There were adequate spending in the legislature of Pervaiz Musharraf on instruction and because of which, we could see the obvious positive instructive change in Pakistani society. Right now the monetary circumstance in Pakistan is under extreme pressure and training part has gotten the most elevated effect in Pakistan. The Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan has prompted the reality in the accompanying words, ââ¬Å"The territory of Pakistan will evacuate lack of education and give free and mandatory optional training inside least conceivable period. â⬠In Human improvement Report, Pakistan is put at 136th position since its 49. 9% populace goes under the meaning of training. The dropout rate is alarmingly high at the essential level; thusly, it is uncovered by the Data Center of UNESCO, that 33. 8% females and 47. 18% in guys could go through the most starting degree of instruction. We might be decisive about the ground reality that individuals in the sixth biggest nation of the world have no entrance to the essential training even. Key Performance Indicators for Education Systems The as often as possible utilized markers for surveying training and its frameworks are grown-up proficiency rates, male and female enlistment at various degrees of instruction, support rate in the various zones of the nation; the dropout rates, the measure of assets designated to training as an extent of the GDP and a few proportions of the nature of training being sought after. Right now, the functionality of these markers lays on the balance of validated and ongoing information so the arranging subtleties might be worked out with certainty. Incongruity of destiny, the pointers, their footings and the nature of information all need greater legitimacy, yet sadly, Pakistans record needs objectivity and discernment all things considered. Issues OF EDUCATION IN PAKISTAN 1. Mechanism of Education: The arrangement of instruction in Pakistan is usable in coordinate with the nearby needs and ground real factors. It is very nearly a definitive consider that the training the first language gives up more profits yet we have the framework progressively isolated and expanded only in opposition to our prerequisites. A genuine case of it is that we neglect to choose about the Medium of training over the range of 64 years. Various mediums are operational in both, open and private segment. This makes a kind of difference among individuals, isolating them into two sections. 21. Divergence of System at Provincial Level:: The Regions of Pakistan for the sake of territories are not at standard as respects the framework, accessibility of staff, their preparation, content authority designation of assets and their use. This builds up a uniqueness in the framework as well as in the turnover as well. There is a need to return to the schools in Baluchistan (The Largest Province of Pakistan by region) in light of the fact that these are not that much prepped as that of Punjab (The Largest Province of Pakistan by Population). Economy - Essay Example Increasing financing costs will obliterate the legislature and would turn out to be a lot of costly for the neighborhood government to obtain money, and home credits will be far off for residents with the exception of the exceptionally well off, by one year from now. Therefore, US might be cleared out monetarily, in this way, carry the monetary exercises to a stop (National Bureau of Economic Research 45-6). The Federal Reserve has strived to keep US loan fees obligation at a low level, and they have succeeded. As of not long ago, speculators and countries around the globe keep on partaking in this framework paying little heed to the way that the government framework isn't straightforward. In any case, there are signs that an excessive number of outside direct speculators are in conclusion re-appropriating their ventures to different nations. For example, China and Russia have been dumping US system obligation. Other direct speculators are Renowned financial specialists like Jim Rodgers state he will dump 30years of US government bonds. At the point when financial specialists put such remarks forward, there is a high likelihood that by 2013, US will have hardly any direct outside speculators. The decrease of the dollar will prompt diminished utilization and will move customer consumption from imported merchandise to residential merchandise and enterprises while enhancing request in household items with expanded fares. Lamentably, the lower dollar esteem is relied upon to last longer than foreseen. The Congressional Budget Office predicts that the spending shortage will rough to 5.2% of the GDP in the coming years. Almost certainly, outside loan specialists like China won't keep loaning cash to US. Because of the diminished interest and decrease of the dollar, the exchange deficiency will decay. The loss of opposite status will be deplorable for the dollar esteem. Outsiders will rash to escape the dollar, either through by and large money transformation or through offering up the US products esteem as they rash to empty the dollar possessions. OCTOBERRR QUOTE: MIT is a very good place; Im not trying to put it down. I was just in love with it. It has developed for itself a spirit, so that every member of the whole place thinks that its the most wonderful place in the worldits the center, somehow, of scientific and technological development in the United States, if not the world. Its like a New Yorkers view of New York: they forget the rest of the country. And while you dont get a good sense of proportion there, you do get an excellent sense of being with it and in it, and having motivation and desire to keep onthat youre specially chosen, and lucky to be there. -Richard P. Feynman, Nobel Laureate in Physics, 1965. baby dont worry / you are my only / you wont be lonely / even if the sky is falling down 6:14 AM. AOL Radio is on the background, tuned to the Top 40 station. The desk area is a confusion of research journals, lecture printouts, and the Cell Biology textbook carelessly thrown to one side, next to the trash can. Carbon sequestration. Climate change. Ocean fertilization. Albedo. Pyrolysis and biochar. Its a little bit hard to imagine that all of these things have merely been nominal knowledge just a couple of hours ago. Five hours of wading through countless journal articles and eight double-spaced pages in Word later, everything made sense. Or at least I hope it did. Reading articles advocating painting all roofs white to increase the albedo of the planet reminded me immediately of Greece, confirming the fact that the ancient Greeks and Romans pretty much discovered everything already 2500+ years ago. The blinking cursor on the open Word window prompted me, hungry for more text. The slightly chilly breeze is blowing in from the windows, no doubt the remnant of freak mini snow shower the day prior. I hear Kayla 12 get up in the room next to mine, and she soon peers into the room Long night? Yeah. Do you have a moment? 6:40 AM and one riveting discussion on Kaylas ongoing project in the Philippines (on gastrointestinal worms) later, Im back to working on my Ecology paper. The sun is rising outside, peeking over the Charles. But thats okay. Its just another day in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Clouds at dawn one morning Im still constantly awed at how beautiful the change of seasons can be in New England. This is nothing short of a Monet, and its right in front of you! (although I was semi-freezing to death when I took this, since I ran out the door with the camera without bothering to put on a sweater :P) you can never say never / while we dont know when / but time and time again / younger now than we were before I vaguely remember taking a shower. I vaguely getting into bed. I vaguely remember hearing the alarm ring. I peer over. Oh crap. Oh crap. 12 minutes later, Im seated at Walker Memorial, a gymnasium eternally dedicated to the extreme sport of taking MIT exams. I stare at the folio of white papers before me, wondering how many times Ive done so before already, sitting in these red chairs of Walker. Its always these packets of white paper the morning sunlight is always streaming through the upper windows of the gym and its always these white Lifetime folding tables (the same types upon which I took my SATs and my AP exams, almost a small fraction of eternity ago). You have 80 minutes, starting now! Just like any other test I take, I began flipping through the pages of the exam Page 13789. Once I got to page 9, I flipped back to page 1, confused. I began reading the questions in great detail. After making my way through the test again, I plopped down the sheath of papers down on the desk, and felt an overwhelming urge to laughjust laugh. The test is completely different to what I studied for. In fact, I seriously felt like I was sitting in the wrong room, while the right 7.06 exam is happening somewhere else on campus. Sadly, the bolded 7.06 EXAM 2 test on the cover page quickly shattered any glimmers of hope that I had.* 80 minutes and 9 pages of absurdity (on my part, since I left 1/3 of the test blank and guessed another 1/2 of the test) later, I walked up to the front of the room and dropped it in the test collection box. Afterwards, through talking with my classmates, I realized that people left anywhere from 1/5 to 1/2 of the test blank, and similarly guessed their way through the test. Life went back to normal. The Canada geese kept arriving in flocks, heading to the south. I got my exam back yesterday. Class average: 44, standard deviation: 14. (this means that most likely if you got 30-37 to 51-58%, you got a B, and 51-58% and above an A. the percentages are given as ranges since classes here rarely announce grade cutoffs). I was going to scan the cover page of my exam and post it here, since the number written there is so low numerically that Im sure itll clear up any misconceptions that MIT is easy when you study biology, but at the same time it also reflects how stupid I am so I think Ill spare myself from further embarrassment. :) So I got a yellow Add/Drop form (Drop Date here is 11 weeks into term, all the way near Thanksgiving), and waved goodbye to Cell Bio, at least for now. leave my door open just a crack / cuz i feel like such an insomniac / why do i tire of counting sheep / when im far too tired to fall asleep 2:25 AM. Everything is a flashback from a week before. Computer printouts litter the desk, although its not ecology this time its history. The fluorescent monitor is displaying my completed typed 7.30 pset. I went through a full day of school, had 3 hours of meetings, started and finished a pset, and Im ready to go to sleep. My bed has never seemed so enticing before, except I still have a 5-page paper on the Russian Reforms of 1861 that I have yet to write. Im conflicted on whether to email my professor and request an extension, but ultimately decided against it, because hey, were hardcore, right? I estimated the number of hours of sleep Im going to get tonight, and the number seemed quite dismal (2). Ah well, cest la vie. I went downstairs, got a bottle of Coke, and began to type: The era of Alexander II led to significant changes in the Russian society Outside, quietly, it began to rain. (click to enlarge) This is my favorite tree on campus. I really want to take a picture of this tree every day next year, when it goes from summer to winter. I wanted to do it this year, but I dont pass by it frequently enough. :( On a more cheerful note, things have been keeping me busy. These will all be blogged about in separate entries, but heres a preview: Leadership Training Institute (in which Im their Expansion Director) will be sending their mentors to Brazil and China this IAP, spreading the program abroad and empowering international college students to teach their local high school students the concept of leadership. Model United Nations (in which Im their President) will be inviting the Director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Boston (equivalent to the Taiwanese consulate in Boston) for a lecture at MIT three weeks later, and will also be sending a group of delegates to UPMUNC, the UPenn MUN conference that I attended as a froshie back in the day. iHouse (in which Im their Housing Chair and a resident) just had its semesterly project presentations dinner, where residents who did an international development project abroad during the summer gave a short presentation to the Spurs-Humphrey Fellows, iHouse coordinators, and Dean Denoncourt of Residential Life Programs. Helen 12 (Uganda, health/water sanitation), Sophia 10 (India, eye care), Kathy 10 (India, health/pedal-powered washing machine), Mary 11 (Cameroon, corn sheller/technology), and Kayla 12 (Philippines, gastrointestinal worms) all presented, and their presentations will be uploaded on to Youtube soon! Their presentations should give you a good idea of the focus of iHouse and what international development means to us (sadly, the video camera fell on the ground when I was uploading the videos, and then it actually broke @@ i had to send it in to get it fixed, sigh). Other than this, Im working a 18-hour per week UROP characterizing a conserved gene that regulates aging in C. elegans (JKim will be working in the same lab as me soon, actuallyhaha I dont think she knows I know yet :P). Im taking a health interpreting class at Boston Medical on Tuesday nights and Saturdays, in anticipation of serving as a Mandarin - English interpreter to Boston/Cambridge area hospitals. A large part of this was driven by what I saw at the community clinic I worked at this summer, and also in anticipation for my future focus on public health. And Im taking 4 classes at MIT two history, two science. After dropping 7.06 (Cell Biology), Im currently taking 9.01 (Neuroscience), 7.30 (Ecology I), 21H.466 (Imperial Russia), and 21H.235 (History of New York City). Finally! Listen to this fascinating Podcast of Paul Nurse, a Nobel-prize winning biologist that was mentioned in 7.06 for his research in cell cycle regulation. I came across this podcast at the global health conference that I went to over Columbus Day weekend and Ive been wanting to share it ever since. Scientists can be really good storytellers too! ^________^V

Because of its high Latino population, the district soon came to be known as Spanish Harlem. (Green). Pretty interesting! Beings that I am in Manhattan myself as well as my parents. The religion that we call our own is the Catholic religion. In addition to the holy days observed by the Catholic church, Puerto Ricans celebrate several other days that hold particular significance for them as a people. For instance, El Dia de las Candelarias, or candlemas, is observed annually on the evening of February 2; people build a massive bonfire around which they drink and dance and chant à ¡Viva las candelarias! or Long live the flames! And each December 27 is El Dia de los Innocentes or the Day of the Children. On that day Puerto Rican men dress as women and women dress as men; the community then celebrates as one large group. (Green) Many Puerto Rican customs revolve around the ritual significance of food and drink. As in other Latino cultures, it is considered an insult to turn down a drink offered by a friend or stranger. Introduction. Domestic violence is a type of abuse which usually occurs between two people who are in a relationship. There are many types of domestic abuse, not all of which are physical. The types of abuse suffered by somebody living in a violent relationship could be emotional, physical, sexual, financial or psychological. Domestic abuse can occur during and after a relationship. Especially if there is a connection between the two people within the relationship for example children. For many years domestic violence was seen as something which happened to women only. It is now recognised as a form of abuse and any child which is seen to be living in a dangerous household may be removed for their own safety and emotional well-being. This can although be hard for professionals to prove as people living in violent relationships often hide the fact they are being abused and almost protect the offender. Educational settings working with children are trained to safeguard children within their care although the quality of this training throughout the country is questionable and improvements may need to be implemented to ensure children and the victims of domestic violence are being protected and the offenders of this crime are brought to justice. This finding was interesting because it shows how deeply the children are affe cted by exposure to domestic violence. The children become

Gay Marriage Free Essays
When I say ââ¬Å"marriage,â⬠what is the first thing that comes to mind? Is it the cake? The bride? The ring? Does main Government Issue cross your mind? I bet it didnââ¬â¢t at all. It doesnââ¬â¢t seem like that would be a main issue since marriage is legal in America everywhere you go. But once ââ¬Å"same-sexâ⬠or ââ¬Å"Gayâ⬠, is in front of the word, a heated debate begins to arise, and a fight for equality around the states being to erupt. We will write a custom essay sample on Gay Marriage or any similar topic only for you Order Now Gay Marriage is right up there with War, Health Care, and Immigration. The United States have been in discussion about Gay Marriage for years now, and the moment you think the issue is resolved and fixed, a Politician brings it back into play. Gay Marriage is an issue that continues to progress because a President finally admits that they support it, Connecticut is one of the first three states to approve it, and other states continue to appeal the decision. Marriage is a basic civil right, and whatever you believe is what you believe. Gay Marriage laws will affect people of heterosexual marriages also. Being Gay is a choice and something you decide. In certain Religions, being Gay is an abomination and would never stand up in a court of law. This presentation will be useful because it will give the audience a good understanding of what is going on and why this is all happening. This speech will be well educated, but also very understanding. Now in 2004, the Connecticut case took place when eight same-sex couples were denied marriage licenses by the town of Madison. They sued, saying their constitutional rights to equal protection and due process were violated. Connecticut legalized marriages of same-sex couples on November 12th, 2008. Connecticut was the third state to do so after California and Massachusetts. The ruling of four to three, came in just weeks before Californians go to the polls on a historic gay-marriage ballot question. The first time the issue will be put before voters in a state where same-sex couples are legally wed. This is the first time that a state that had willingly offered an alternative to marriage was told by a court that civil unions arenââ¬â¢t enough to protect the rights of gay couples. Connecticut was the first state to voluntarily pass laws to affirm civil unions. In the majority opinion, Justice Richard N. Palmer wrote that denying marriage to same-sex couples would create separate standards. ââ¬Å"Interpreting our state constitutional provisions in accordance with firmly established equal protection principles leads inevitably to the conclusion that gay persons are entitled to marry the otherwise qualified same sex partner of their choice. â⬠The Family Institute of Connecticut, a political action group that opposes gay marriage, called the ruling outrageous. ââ¬Å"Even the legislature, as liberal as ours, decided that marriage is between man and a woman,â⬠said executive director Peter Wolfgang. ââ¬Å"This is about our right to govern ourselves. It is bigger than gay marriage. â⬠These people who I have quoted are highly respected within the Government in Connecticut. In some certain place, they know someone close to them who has had to deal with situations within this debate. This topic has been very controversial, and it has taken a toll on the people who are the ones being criticized, possibly someone within a political action group. And those are the Gays, Lesbians and Bisexual. These group of people have been treated unequally throughout the years. Fighting to become married with their loved ones, and never succeeding in the past years made each and every one of them who they are today. Having the decision to become gay or lesbian is all about your preference and choice. Being with that someone of the same-sex, in a conscious state of mind, and having the label as being married means more than a Government Law. It means believing in what you believe in as a person and doing what some say was impossible to do. Marriage is a process that seems difficult, but as a heterosexual couple trying to get married, it is pretty simple. So why is it that when ââ¬Å"Gayâ⬠is put in front of marriage it becomes a heated debate and can never be resolved? Certain religious groups feel that same-sex marriage should not be allowed in Connecticut, and protestors believe the same thing. They believe this debate should not be resolved and if it is it should be illegal in not just Connecticut, but in the entire United States. Justice Peter T. Zarella wrote that he believes there is no fundamental right to same-sex marriage, and the courts majority failed to discuss the purpose of marriage laws, which he said is to ââ¬Å"privilege and regulate procreative conduct. â⬠Zarella also added, ââ¬Å"The ancient definition of marriage is that as a union of one man and one woman has its basis in biology, not bigotry. If the state no longer has an interest on the regulation of procreation, then that is the decision for the legislature or the people of the state and not this court. â⬠Some groups even take it a step further to say, Gay Marriage caused the mass shootings in Connecticut. James Dobson, who in 2010 retired from a Christian conservative group he founded in 1977 called ââ¬Å"Focus on the Family,â⬠told listeners of his ââ¬Å"Dr. James Dobsonââ¬â¢s Family Talk Showâ⬠that the massacre at Sandy Hook was a result of Americans turning their back on God. Now to President Obama, as he went to Sandy Hook and showed his appreciation towards that situation, our own President believes Gays should have the right to be able to be married to each other. President Obama became the first sitting president to announce his support for same-sex marriage. At first, Obama was sensitive to the fact that to a lot of the people, the word marriage, was something that evokes very powerful decisions, religious beliefs, and so forth. But over the course of time as he talked to friends and family, when he thinks about members of his own staff who are in committed same-sex relationships, who are even raising kids together, at a certain point he concluded that for him personally, it is important to him to go ahead and affirm that he believes same-sex couples, should be able to get married. Before same-sex marriage laws were passed in Connecticut, some laws made it unfair towards people who are in same-sex relationships. For example, when person one goes to the hospital because he is sick, only someone who is married, or is family is allowed to visit, and find out certain information about the patient. So if person number two is in a same-sex relationship with person one, they did not have the ability to visit person one. Strictly because they were not married, because they couldnââ¬â¢t. And Obama believed certain aspects, such as that one, werenââ¬â¢t equal to gay and lesbian relationships. These gay and lesbian relationships are happening all over the world and the community will continue to rise. The US Government is one of the only decision makers when it comes to such high priority cases like these. Legalization will either continue to grow, or it will stop. Peopleââ¬â¢s beliefs are their own, and once a person believes they can do something it is hard to stop them. Especially in a situation like this. Religious groups and protestors will do their best to prevent from Gay Marriages from happening. While President Obama continues to endorse his opinion and support to same-sex marriages. Now that you have heard me speak to you about this and are more aware of the situation at hand, where will you stand? How to cite Gay Marriage, Papers Gay Marriage Free Essays 1. In this day of age by now everyone should have equal rights but they do not. We will write a custom essay sample on Gay Marriage or any similar topic only for you Order Now The gay and lesbian community is still struggling for equal rights. Gays and lesbian want rights Just like everyone else like marriage. Gay marriage is important to the gay and lesbian community to make them feel equal, have the benefits like others and be socially accepted. Equal Rights In February 2014, Arizona government introduced SHABBY. SHABBY is a bill that would allow business owners in Arizona to legally deny service to same sex couples by citing their religious beliefs. Governor Jan Brewer vetoed SHABBY, Brewer citied ââ¬Å"unintended and negative consequencesâ⬠(Broody, 2014 peg. 56). Equal rights is a given right, well not exactly. If someone falls into a certain group or community, like the gay and lesbian community, their rights are very limited. Marriage is one of those rights that the gay and lesbian community does not have. Marriage is a human right which should be allowed for everyone and not discriminate others. Benefits Benefits plays a major role in gay marriage, not only for finances but medical wise. For example there is a gay couple, not married because the state does not allow it, and one of them becomes very ill and passes away. Well the other partner does not have any rights to claim his partnerââ¬â¢s body, his partnerââ¬â¢s family does. The partner can not even plan the funeral or even keep anything that was his partnerââ¬â¢s. Sometimes this is the case because their family never liked their child being with the same sex, so they punish their childââ¬â¢s partner by doing so. So having that title as being married is very important. Most Jobs you have to be married to receive your partnerââ¬â¢s benefits but how if the state will not allow them to marry. In an article it states, ââ¬Å"The Defense of Marriage Act by the Congress of the U. S. Prevents the same-sex partners from receiving benefitsâ⬠(Passe, 2012 peg. 459-472). This is Congress denying benefits, their rights to gays and lesbians. Social Acceptance When society see two guys holding hands or even kissing, they call them names, throw things at them, give them dirty looks or even worst cases kill them. Now it is kind of different when people see two girls hold hands or even kiss. Society views says and lesbians as a disgrace, they look down on them like they are not even humans. Gays and lesbians Just want to walk and hold hands without the fear of society showing negative behavior. ââ¬Å"Although sharply divided, public attitudes toward gays and lesbians are rapidly changing to reflect greater acceptance, with younger generations leading the way (Harms, 2011). â⬠Gays and lesbians have seen a change in society, society is a bit more accepting than how it used to be slowly but surely. Conclusion The gay and lesbian community has overcame struggles to get to where they are at today, but still going through more struggles. The importance of gay marriage is equal rights, benefits and being socially accepted. How to cite Gay Marriage, Papers Gay Marriage Free Essays Ariel Stanley College Comp I Argumentative Essay September 25, 2012 Gay Marriage: Right or Wrong? There has been much controversy on the subject of gay marriage. Obamas recent outspokenness on the issue has made the subject of whether or not gay marriage is appropriate pop up again in the news and media in 2007, when he said ââ¬Å"I doâ⬠to gay marriage a lot of people that have strong anti-gay feelings. I believe that people should be able to get married no matter what sexual orientation they are, because love comes in all shapes and sizes. We will write a custom essay sample on Gay Marriage or any similar topic only for you Order Now According to The National Opinion Research Center in 1973 the people that believed that gay sex was ââ¬Å"always wrongâ⬠was a shocking 73%. And from then till 1990 the percentage rose another 3% to an all-time high of 76%. But soon after in the beginning of the 21st century that number has dropped sixteen points down to 60%. It fell another six points in the following two years. After Obamaââ¬â¢s speech in 2007 the number fell again dramatically to a record low of 35% of people. On the other hand in 1996 Gallup found that the number of people that supported same-sex marriage was 26% of people and in 2003 that number has risen to 39%. I believe that gay marriage should be allowed because it is the peopleââ¬â¢s personal decision whether or not they wish to get married to a person of the same sex. I believe they should not be discriminated against, and I think that they should have the same rights as all people because we as a people are all equal. People argue that marriage is a contract in which a man and a woman are to spend the rest of their lives together, until death do they part. They say because it says between a man and a woman it is against godââ¬â¢s word for people of the same sex to engage in intercourse and get married. Well I say the hell with what was written over two thousand years ago the times have changed and I think people need to get with the fucking times you bigoted assholes. Social conservatives may have lost on gay marriage as soon as they started debating it, because of heterosexuals and the sexual revolutions. ââ¬Å"The religious right barnstormed the nation warning against ââ¬Ëgay marriageââ¬â¢ ââ¬â with an odd result. For both straight and gay folks, the phrase was transformed from an oxymoron into a real possibility. â⬠As the liberal journalist E. J. Graff has written in the Boston Globe. A lot of homosexual married people have adopted kids even though the social conservatives are strongly against it. I believe that they gay community should be able to get married and have a family, even though there are many people out there that think having two women or men cannot raise a child properly. They argue that you have to have a man and a woman to be to raise a kid properly. The way I look at it is what is better for a kid, sitting in the ââ¬Å"systemâ⬠waiting for someone to adopt them or maybe they just float through the system for year and years? Or is it better for a child to be adopted by a loving gay couple that will give them the love and caring that they need. I believe that if a couple is truly in love that they should be married regardless of sex, color, or race. There should be no reason that people that truly love each other should be stopped from showing that by getting married. And they should be able to have children whether it is by artificial insemination or adoption. We as a people should not have the right to dictate how others should chose to live their lives, and I believe that we should allow anyone to do what they choose. Intimate Apparel Synopsis free essay sample
The character I really tried to focus on while watching Intimate Apparel was George, the man from Panama. I thought he was the best actor on the stage that night, but thatââ¬â¢s not saying too much. For the first half of the play, the actor performed a monologue with the spotlight solely on him. After the break, the actor participated in scene work with multiple characters. George in the storyline is a man who works a very physically demanding job digging canals in Panama. He one day decides to write a letter to Ester, the unmarried woman who works with fabrics, and he immediately takes a liking to her. They exchange letters for about six months and then it happens- George sends her a letter proclaiming his love and asks Ester to be his wife. She replies and says she would love to; he comes a few weeks later for the wedding. We will write a custom essay sample on Intimate Apparel Synopsis or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Off the bat when they met, it seems to be a little awkward; they had never met and barely knew each other. Over time, they got closer due to their proximity but emotionally they grew distant. George doesnââ¬â¢t seem to be the romantic that Ester had originally talked to. Also, she finds out that he has been cheating on her. He ends up taking her money and leaving Ester. There were a lot of good things that the actor did throughout the course of the play that I have been taught to do as well. He knew his lines for the most part, his inflection changed at appropriate times, and he used a lot of good hand motions and other gestures. Also, in the first half of the play (before the intermission), the actor played a roll in which he was very romantic and sweet. When he recited the letters, he was able to come across as a very well together and in love man. I genuinely thought he was being sincere and true to Ester. Later in the play, George became very distant and withdrawn. He became a cheating man without morals, who was selfish and inconsiderate. The actor was able to portray two different extremes in the same play, and he did a pretty good job making the transition. I think this would be hard to accomplish, but he was effectively able to do so. Another effective part in the play was the anger the man who played George was able to show. At the scene in the bedroom talking to Ester, he stomped around, making a certain amount of noise without drowning out his own vocals. Throughout the journey of the theater performance, he made a lot of hand gestures and facial expressions that showed me how he felt; he let me feel his emotions. With that said, George didnââ¬â¢t have a flawless performance. For the most part, I thought it was poor acting; but he did well relatively speaking as I addressed above. With that said, it was hard to understand him half the time. At certain parts it seems he wasnââ¬â¢t exactly sure of his lines. He stuttered at parts that didnââ¬â¢t call for stuttering; it wasnââ¬â¢t apart of the script. That just comes down to memorization. Additionally, the actor lost the role at one point, letting out a smirk mid-scene. That smile kind of threw the audience; actors must be in character at all times. Physically, the actor made the audience believe he was a physically worn man. From the clothes he wore to his whole demeanor. His facial expressions showed exhaustion; while speaking from Panama, his voice was strong but tiresome and showed uncertainty. When he came to the contiguous United States, his physical appearance changed. Although he was not in Panama any longer, his true roots came out in the way he spoke and the heavy accent he placed on his words. George became better dressed and modernized; this led to an emotional change as well. Emotionally speaking, in the beginning of the play George was such a smooth talker; he was a sweetheart who was very persuasive and manipulative. The inflection George had in his voice was very sincere. He showed his charm and passion through the words in his letters (even though they turned out to not be his own words). Regardless, he made Ester fall in love with him and want to see him. He seemed genuine. In person though, he wasnââ¬â¢t so loving. George showed his heartlessness and rudeness in his cheating and dialect towards Ester. He showed anger by the way he stomped about the bedroom and stormed out of rooms. He showed his impatience by the way he knocked at the door, so hard and so loud. There were subtle things that couldââ¬â¢ve been done better, but the emotion was attempting to be displayed. Intellectually the actor had a few different motives. The first half of the play the audience thought George was all about love and being Esterââ¬â¢s husband. After the intermission, his true colors came out and he became a money hungry hustler. Throughout the play, the character George had many different emotions and types of person he had to show. The actor did a pretty decent job with his faces and body language that he performed. I thought overall, he did an okay job and the play was interesting. I enjoyed watching the storyline play out, though the acting couldââ¬â¢ve been much better. It seemed as though the performers were not prepared to act in front of an actual audience. With that said, I look forward to seeing other productions in the future.
